The New Zealand Residence Programme (NZRP) contains permanent residence goals set by Government to meet New Zealand’s ongoing skills requirements and humanitarian commitments. The number of places available to migrants for each year ending 30 June under the NZRP is reviewed by Cabinet each year.
For 2009/10 the NZRP is set at the same level as for 2008/09, 45,000 – 50,000 approved places. This includes:
* the Skilled/Business stream (approximately 26,800 – 29,950 places)
* Parent, Adult Child and Adult Sibling policies of the Family Sponsored stream (approximately 4,950 – 5,500 places)
* Partner and Dependent Child policies of the Family Sponsored stream (uncapped, estimated to be about 9,900 – 10,700 places for planning purposes), and
* the International /Humanitarian stream (approximately 3,350 – 3,850 places).
